In the year I spent with the RSS in Angel, Islington, London and the three years I've spent so far with Young refugee support the adult casework team has consistently had issues with lack of volunteers which means they simply can't do their work effectively enough. The young refugee casework team seems to have no volunteers at all and then rnb groups across London have occasional dips (but muddle through). This is not an acceptable level of service and a more responsive recruitment drive could help. Perhaps 'over recruiting' would help due to the relatively high attrition rate when vols have to leave for all kinds of reasons. It would help if recruitment could be more responsive rather than have a strict schedule (as it appears to but I'm sure it's more complicated than this).
