A great opportunity missed – again!
This was our first visit to the Emergency Services Show at the NEC, great fun looking around all the shiny new equipment, meeting passionate people who more than willing to talk about their offerings and make a good impression. Then there was the Red Cross stand – what an opportunity missed!
Having a very old Land Rover that looked more at home in the classic vehicles stand, a stand that has seen better day along and the people operating the stand being disengaged (sorry to offend anyone but…) when we paid our first visit the two people were eating and were not in uniform, not a good look. Second time we passed at least one person was in uniform, but huddled around the sofa chatting, and looked very insular, whereas every other stand we visited were more than engaging.
Don’t know the price of doing the show, in this age of cutting back and saving money then please can we do something properly and show ourselves to the public in a way our passionate volunteers and staff deserve.
